I'Ll Try

Whatever woes betide; (And let cynics exhaust all they have to say) Hard work shall be my pride, For I know someday it shall pay. I know that great enterprises are not for all, And that the crown does not belong to losers; I know that victory does not easily come, That you cannot expect the Pharisees to adore Jesus, And that East and West can never be bedfellows. I intend to be the first Where honest and virtuous deeds are fronted. And after all is done and I'm back to dust, I want both men and women to say, That I did all a mortal could in my day. And may the Father who all knows, Pardon all my folly and flaws, And grant me His eternal mercy, And welcome me in His golden abode.
