If I Died Now

Nothing would change if I died now
I would still be by your side
I may be gone, but I'm not going anywhere.
Even though you cannot see me any longer, just know that I'll be there.
At midnight when you are asleep,
I will watch over you until the sun rises.
Then, in the morning when you awake
we will spend the day together, even though you are now alone.
I would not be sad if I died now.
Because, I would still have you near.

Tears would flow at the thought of everything I can no longer do.
I would never find my one true love, or be able to have children.
We wouldn't get to travel like you always wanted to.
But, I wouldn't let it depress me.
I hope you will not let it ruin your life, either.
I would want you to be happy, and celebrate our favorite holidays.
It will be difficult without me around.
But, I would miss the fun if you didn't celebrate.

If I died now you wouldn't even know I was gone.
I would do what ever I could to make you smile again.
I will hold your hand, when you are afraid.
And wipe away your tears, when you are sad.
I will blow the dark clouds away so the sun can shine down on you.
It would rain on the flowers, when you forget to water them.
Because, I know how those bright blooms make you smile.
I would wrap my arms around you on winter days,
and keep you from the cold.
I guess I would be your dark angel, your guardian.
Always there to protect you and keep you from harm.
I will love you no less than I ever did.
If I died now.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Andrea. I think my family knows how I feel about them, even though I haven't expressed anything quite like this to them. My family knows that I write poetry, but they have not read any of it, yet. :)

Oh Kelly, you play the heart so well as your words flow with the passion of emotion. The tears did come when reading this one my friend. This one truely flows straight to the heart Kelly. You are one person who would be missed by many. If you died now your Soul would shine as bright as any star as you went along doing your Angel duty. Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Thank you for the wonderful comments, my friend. Your words really touched my heart! I shed a few tears myself when I wrote this poem. It flowed easily from my heart, but these words were hard to put on the paper. I just wanted my family to know how I felt about them, should anything ever happen to me. I do appreciate your kind visits, Mike! :)

I don't like that word, either! But, I guess I have to say goodbye for now, Linda. Sometimes, we do need to take a break and get away every now and then. I am looking forward to your return, though! So, I will just say, see you later, PD! :)

Hello Kelly, the touch of your absence would truly be missed. However, I admire the way you invites the hands of twilight to stay in the heart of your loved one... enjoyed the poem...Linda
