I Expected More

I expected more

I expected more
Yes, I’m an idealist
I have a better name….
A fool
A child
Thinking that trust still means something
That people won’t turn into cannibals
Eating each other whole
Biting away pieces of reputation
With our razor sharp teeth of

Without finding out the truth
Hurling words that stab and tear
Flaying souls bare
How do you dare???
How do you dare!!!

I expected more
From you
From him
From her
From them
From us
Cannibalism…what a shame!
Who would engage in that???
And yet
Here we sit at the feast
We sit with blood running down our mouths
Hunched over the carcass of someone’s
Murdered honor
Thanking the powers that be…
“Thank God isn't me!”
Gossip = “Social Cannibalism”
Sanctuary not found
“I demand sanctuary!”

I expected more
"Great Expectations"
Dashed to the floor
A fool
A child
“Little one,
“Expect nothing
And you will never get disappointed.”

PS...this place needs to be a safe place, a haven....a sanctuary for people who share the same love to FINALLY be appreciated for their work and their dreams...goals and aspirations. WE ALL need to think before we "speak" about others and surmise
this or that. We are just going to lose more people from this place if something isn't done about that o'l grapevine... :(

“Wherever two or three are gathered”…or so the verse goes…Here seems to be my take of late...

“Wherever two or three are gathered
Most surely NOT in HIS name
Gossip is the order of day
The hottest PS Game!”

A game in which there are NO winners...only Losers. Think about it...Please...

Also..please...NO COMMENTS on the inspiration behind this...Just some food for thought..for ALL of us.

*cont'd* -- I want to share a happening. At one point here, within one of the 'inner-circles', I was the topic of gossip(which doesn't surprise me, especially with some of my past blog antics). One of the gossipers decided to become a double-agent and copy/pasted the mail(including URL/Time-stamp/names), sending it to me -- Ha! It was funny. I had a lot of fun. So I visited the poems of all the gossipers in question, and left them all REALLY positive, encouraging comments(but the poems were good, deserving merit).

WOW, Chris...that last bit in the parenthesis, that says it all! :) I value your honesty....seriously. When people are up enough to admit things like this and YET to give credit where it is due, I say...hats off to you. I try VERY hard to leave sincere posts. I've done something you've mentioned quite recently and I was genuine in my praise. :) At times though, I have given a jibe or two.. :( Always felt bad afterwards, but....we are only human! Take care!

Eileen, you are now officially a component of my moral compass here on the Soup. Hope that's ok. I have gossiped a bit in the past. People who claim not to have ever done such a thing, are liars. In fact, when a person claims total innocence(in wotever angle, situation; doesn't have to be about gossip), this sets-off my inner alarm, and I will then distance myself(either physically/mentally/emotionally, or all). Good on you for posting this.

Chris...that isn't tongue in cheek is it? ME? Oh dear...Morality and ethics have always fascinated me, but knowing and doing are two different things...and we all need accountability partners, so....if you are willing to be part of my moral compass, we have a deal. Who hasn't gossiped at some point....passing on news with malicious intent is what is frightening, but we live in a world of people and so, things get around....Inevitable! Thanks ever so much for your kind post!

How did I miss this one Eileen??? Frank H suggested that I should read it. You make some excellent points, well worth pondering. Hugs Rick.

Perhaps a bit of a pessimist, Mr Seal? Or have you been stung? No matter what, there is always hope for better days to come. Auntie an keep an eye out for you! About being nosey....You're only being nosey if you delve into people's business that you haven't formed some sort of bond with...That is breach of privacy. With Desert Orchid, you have the green light to ask and check.. Isn't that what concerned individuals do?
