I Didn'T Mean To Cry But I Cried
Can you hear the sweet sound?
Of care-free birds all high
Singing unknown pretty tunes
If you can… please
Lend me your ears so I can embrace too
I heard the sun was out today
Shining its rays into the skin of men
Warming soul and hearts all around me
I woke up to darkness
If you can… please
Lend me your eyes so I can witness daylight
My beauty I have or so I believe
Lies beneath these clothes I bear
The pure, deep simple yet true smile
I know naught, hidden by the mask I stole
From nature to hide myself
Pretty. I hear them say, they don't know
I'm different in me, beneath my face
People have skeletons in their closets
I have masks, yes I laugh now
When reality strikes I die
I live by faith but it fails me @ times
I eat and breathe hope for a better tomorrow
Still it fails me @ times but I keep it somehow
The make believe world surrounds me
Still I laugh knowing tomorrow bears the same story
The people I hide in me
I believe, can roar a roaring lion back in amazement
Can make a child see love on another level
Mountains can bow down @ my heart
Yet these roads I travel are built on the people in me
If those eyes engraved on your face
The ears blooming on your head
The true smile stuck between your glooming cheeks
Can be spared just for a day… just for me
I'll kindly and freely trade them for my masks.
If not… take my hand and walk with me
For fear surrounds my loneliness
Sorrow clouds my judgement on each day I bear
Patience is a forlorn memory built in my head
Love exists only in my imagination…
