Heart Shaped Box

My mother opens up the door,
finding a heart shaped box on the earths floor.
Who could it be from she does not know,
so excitement starts to grow.

Maybe it's from my estranged daughter,
it makes her blood run even hotter.
she wishes that she'd come home,
she shouldn't be out there all alone.

She takes it to the table,
pulls up a chair and waits til she's able.
Hands trembling at the velvet touch,
anticipation is too much.

Pulling the velvet bow,
opens it to see whats to show.
Pulls back the satin lid,
her horror can not be hid.

Bits of flesh and bone,
an eye is clearly shown.
Teeth and little parts,
all surround her baby's heart.

What kind of monster could do this,
taking all that macabre pleasure to be his.
Why did she have to be so tormented,
he is truly very demented.

She opens the bloody note,
to see what he wrote,
Short and sweet are the lines,
that is all the explaination she'll ever find.

"Here is your baby girl,
who I took from this world.
She screamed and tried to fight,
 all this to my delight.

Be proud of her and what was done,
I have now had all my fun.
 Watching her beg and cry,
I enjoyed it I cannot deny."
