Hear the Word of the Lord

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth, It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 NKJV HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD While searching for shells and sand dollars Along the ocean shore I chanced to find a tiny church With a broken, hanging door All the windows were long since gone I found not a single pane But I stepped inside to offer a prayer As day began to wane I prayed, Father God, where are they Who used to pass this way Are they worshiping You elsewhere Or been called home with You to stay What of those who came here But never were sincere In why they chose to come at all Since their ears seemed not to hear For those who chose to follow Christ Baptized in His Holy Name I thank You for their salvation Because their lives were never the same Now, Lord, I must wonder Why they closed the door Of this tiny broken down church Along the ocean shore Curtis Moorman 23 September 2011 For the Church by the Ocean contest

How many times does the simple of act of gathering sea shells draw one into another more captivating activity? This was a nice opener to your poem...love the rhyming thru out....the lesson of those who came and yet heard nothing...followed by your line of thankfulness of the transformed lives....The end ties it all up with the inquisition of a child....why did the church close, dear Lord... Please share with me how your church or local newspaper responds to this beautiful write. Very curious. Looking forward to reading more of your poetry about the Lord. Gwendolen

I could sit and ponder the many reasons this church could be empty but I know it's just fiction, right? This is prayerful. Reverence is your centerpiece! ( I can hear the rusty hinges squeaking back and forth). You WILL DO AWESOME COME JUDGING!! Gwendolen

curtis, you have done an awesome job with this contest. It's good to see your poems again. These days I've only had time to see comments of those responding to my own poetry. I used to look at winners' lists but just don't have time any more for it. That's why you have not heard from me probably.LUv, Andrea
