Hard Pressed
hard pressed to search for
certainty, hard pressed to
make some sense, hard
pressed to end all these
frustrations, hard pressed to
submit to something (if
only it will help you relax),
hard pressed to try again
as if you hadn’t failed before,
hard pressed to fail again
as if you’ll stop trying, hard
pressed to want what others
want, hard pressed to
compare, hard pressed to
buy into it, hard pressed to
work harder, hard pressed to
embrace what doesn’t suit you,
hard pressed to smile when
you don’t want to, hard
pressed to accept the worst
news, hard pressed to believe
that something better will
be coming, hard pressed to
panic when the rest do,
hard pressed to fall in line,
hard pressed to be thankful
for the scraps, hard pressed to
be silent when you’re
screaming inside.
