Growing up shackled

Growing up has been a shame…..
Growing up never gave her wings……
Her ideas never got that flight……
‘cause they held her so tight…….
‘Who she was ???
They never wanted to understand…
‘Who she wanted to be’???
was none of their concern…..
They have given birth to her
So she was their pet-A caged bird…
They fed, clothed and educated her…
but never showed their love to her
Ever trying to mould her
in the cast of their aims for her
to fulfill their own dreams…
Shackled in their thoughts
She wonders whether she will ever be free…..
They never give her an ear
Never trusted her
Nothing they did was fair
Those looks just gave her jitters
those looks of distrust
In seclusion she wails
Where shall she go??
With whom shall she share
her agony???
With so many such questions
In her mind
She wanted to tell her parents..
That she is not a dream
Not a pet
She is a human being
An individual
Just let her be………

Hahahahahaha....well Craig and Debbie....its not at all, about me....i m a grown up with my own two teen aged kids.....actually read an article by a girl in the local daily...her pain was evident from her scribbling....and in my society ,i hv seen more often, that parents force their dreams on their kids and want to take them the course they decide for them right from career options to the partner, they will choose....most of such kids feel as if they are caged.....i feel sad for them...:((

It is a much harder life where you are ..much harder for everyone and particularly women..I wish you well, safe and happy and have no idea how to help you get that way? Writing does help releive the pain. Light & Love

Irfana, I am an old fart (like Debbie sorry Debs I'm exactly your age) but trust this one comment "because of love--right or wrong"--and I think you are talking about you here--right? If you are an adult now it is your fault not to address this--don't hold it in--a smoldering campfire can consume a forest and when they are gone you can never free your heart or allow them the opportunity to hug you and set you free--don't waste any more time my dear!!

It is very sad so many of us go through this [remember Romeo & Julliet] Parents don't know how to parent..children don't accept they are children. No one trusts anyone elses sad. Only the school of hard knocks seems to teach us anything. My own mother would say don't do THIS..I'd say why? She'd say I know why..I did it it was awful BUt I can't remember how to tell you WHY..just don't do it..I did it of course. At 64 now I wish I had trusted my mother more. Light & Love

yes debbie....i also believe mostly parents are on the right side and as they have experience on their side but they don't have to shovel that down the throats of their kids....they can do it with can conquer the world......i always believe and have experienced that kids are never too small to understand ...if u will talk to them with love ,they understand....
