Frosted Embers

Winter rides On the weathered Wings of the wind Through a heavy sky Where violet hues are Pinned. Wispy Clouds flow like Angel Hair in graceful curls Winter's frosted embers Adorn the earth like millions Of priceless pearls. A Cleansing renewal transpires From the harshness of winter air Divine growth emerges from a land That is hushed in graceful prayer. Beautiful Wisdom radiates from Inside this wonderland of pristine light As a kaleidoscope of color emanates From this heavenly prism of white. Carole Cookie Arnold 01/02/2010

This was very good. I read it through several times just to keep the words echoing in my mind. I've seen the times when a winters day can be as pleasant as a warm spring day. The crisp air of a winter breeze that carries the cool clean smell of dormant nature. The stillness of life that awaits for a new rebirth to bring the surroundings alive. The crunch of snow underfoot. The sting of chill on the cheek. An exhaled puff of breath that drifts away. Thanks Carole, for making me long for winter.

Extraordinarily this poem's suggestive nature, especially the last stanza. Amazing as wisdom radiates from the prism of white(Love) of the vortex of heart. I see I didn't make it to this poem's graduation, so belated congratulations on your win with it. Sincerely, love, Moses

Congratulations Carole, on your success in Laura McKenzie’s “Winter’s Adornment ” contest with your wonderful rhyming poem. It's easy to see why you are in the winner’s circle. I don't know whether you noticed, but the words form the shape of a winter evergreen tree. So, it could also be a shape poem. Very nice and greatly enjoyed. Your poetic skills excel. Lovingly, Dane Ann
