They came from afar To our foreign shores Opening unfamiliar doors Following a new star Languages and accents Spoken with strange words Longing to be heard To be able to make sense Yearning to conquer and toil Adversity that may come Lady Liberty stands to welcome Their first steps on our soil Opportunity has a price Paid for with blood and tears Faith, hope, and fears Freedom does entice Praying their lives were blessed With safety and good health Finding a fortune in peace and wealth Our future generations will attest Coming to our promised land Bringing traditions of origins along This is where they now belong One and all…American
