Fire Song
a cloud of smoke looms in the air
so thick the sun disappeared
bright yellow flames rapidly grow
eating away what used to be home
as I stood and watched with wonder
hot yellow tongues licking upward
it just took one little spark
and all was lost, my world grew dark
in the midst of blissful calm
the flames began their destructive song
whistling, cracking, and moaning too
a hollow sound that blows straight through
everything now and past
all is lost, burned up so fast
I'm amazed at what I saw
flames with seemingly no flaws
so now I start my life anew
to the old one, bid adieu
keeping in mind that fateful morning
disaster comes without warning
