False Pride
I have fallen in deep with pride tonight
My good intention used against me
I’m beguiled by ego’s pompous might
Dismissed was true grace; now I see
When clouded judgment led me onto
The reefs below and turbulent sea
‘Take a moment... maybe turn and run!
From false pride, you must disengage
Heed your conscience or come undone
Hear my words, do not become enraged
Endless is haunting of conscience, near dead
In this I implore you, with me, engage!'
What you choose this night determines tomorrow..
Turn about my friend; turn away from sorrow'.
