Echoes of Love
Upon a field of dreams and sorrows,
I stood and watched the stars above,
And in the silence of tomorrow,
I whispered a silent love.
The wind did blow, the leaves did rustle,
As I looked up to the sky,
And with each passing gust and bustle,
I felt my heart begin to sigh.
For in the darkness of the night,
I saw the stars shine so bright,
But in their gleam, a haunting sight,
Of memories I cannot fight.
Like echoes from a distant past,
The memories of my love did come,
In a ghostly dance, they did outlast,
The beating of my heart, a drum.
And as I stood and watched in wonder,
The stars began to fade away,
And in the stillness and the thunder,
I knew my love had gone astray.
Yet still I stood and watched in awe,
As the stars danced in the sky,
And in their light, I saw the raw,
Emotions of my heart on high.
But as the night grew old and dreary,
And the stars grew dim and cold,
I knew my love, a lost and eerie,
Story to be forever told.
So let the stars shine down on me,
As I stand and watch in wonder,
For in their light, my heart will see,
The love that I'll always remember,
But never again will unearth.
