Daffodils and Aquamarine Gems

DAFFODILS AND AQUAMARINE GEMS

Daffodils blooming in wild profusion
Warm, lazy, balmy days
The sparkle of my high school class ring
With its stone of aquamarine

My birthday on St. Patrick's Day
Being born in Dublin (Georgia)
All taking place in the month of March
It doesn't get any better than this

Unless you – because of your stone
Or perhaps your flower
Each denoting the month of your birth
Cause you to feel as I do about my own

Thankful for life, health, family
Grateful to the God who made it all possible
Gem stones and special flowers mark our birth
And the God of the universe orchestrated it all

I see you had a win with this one but I am not a fan of ree verse so I could not judge it in any way except to say whether I liked the words or not. I do like the sentiments in this one xx ysp

Thanks, Bob! I can always count on you to "say the right thing" to make a poet feel good about their work.

Thanks, Carol! March is one of my favorite times of year -- for all the reasons noted in my poem.

You wrote, "But, in my opinion, the only stone that can cure anything is the one that was rolled away from the tomb of Jesus on the third day." .....such a profound way to comment on my lil entry, Curtis. Just superb powerful thinking...I believe that stone that was rolled away was GRANITE! Hey, granite should be all Believers' birth stone! ..Gwendolen

Granite is a stone of great strength, but not strong enough to subdue our Lord and Savior. He rolled back the "granite" to ensure eternal salvation so He could "grant it"!!

ps..there was so much "alternative healing" discussion surrounding my Lavender Stone...it's quite simple to me..God made it...I don't think placing it on my forehead to cure a headache or in my window sill to bring peacefulness will do anything magical..the magic is clearly in its beauty. Right?

Hey Curtis...Looks like someone stayed up past his bedtime writing Clerihews last night ....haha..that was fun..Andrea had a lot of powerful comments on mine..especially that most of mine lacked humor except for the last one about Perot. I changed it so his name was at the end of the first line. Supposedly, they are to be short..I will have to work on my form a lot more. Of all yours, I love the John the Baptist one the most..I got a great laff. Here's to a spectacular day. Tracie will love this entry. Check out mine too if ya get a chance..Gwenodolen
