Color Us Sacred
Listen to the colors
That linger here and there
They breathe ever softly
Finest dust in sunlit air
In every tint I have discovered
A guardian of hope has painted
A spectrum unique to each their own
Though by trials of life their vibrancy faded
Faint echoes behind walls we know
The search is on for a particular soul
Though eyes be filtered as their color passes
It's a longing we never outgrow
Color us sacred
As our journey begins
Pigments and brush in hand
Guardian of ours dancing upon the winds
Your gift is a canvas
Clean and pure
Not history's black what color was that
Your gift is yesterday's cure
Color us water pouring
Over rains sweet grass of green
This love of my life
Color him aquamarine
Sift my eyes with his beautiful shades
Of cornflower and sapphire blue
As I turn the corner into red
The color he brought to my bed
His beauty is lavenders scent
Unswayed by the darkest grey
Please color him in shades of pink
That our passion may never drift away
Guardian splash us with your yellow serum
Uncanny freshness on our modest ranch
With your golden sunsets and pearl moon
Reflecting diamonds there as we dance
On days when memories colors
So sharp and vivid come to mind
Color me orange my happy tone
Leaving those others behind
When our leaves begin turning to orange and red
And indigos skies loom overhead
Remind us of a copper sun
Nay the heaviness of lead
Under Eden's sky the topaz rabbit stood still
You painted us authentic earth and blues
Forgetting the regret of scarlets past an abstract
Recreating a beauty we could never construe
Color our years passing by
In shades that ground us like plum
Grant us sweet anticipation
Of all the colors to come
Paint his arms around my waist
Our kiss a precious tone
Paint us with a substance indissoluble
A color all our own
