Collateral Damage
Your death was unneeded
Of course it doesn’t matter
Your birth was never supposed to be
He knew that…but kept it secret anyway
But the burning wrath took your life
Nothing but dying embers
Remain of your once
Hopeful life
Your ways were usually unorthodox
Your character not normal for our kind
The other hated you
But I loved you
After all you are my son
I’m sorry for my betrayal
But I’m glad to have known you
For as long as I have
I’m sorry I never told you the truth
That I never told you who I was
But that would have had complications
In the end though
I still failed to keep you safe
And now all that I have left
Of you
Is a picture
Safe in my mind
Forever there
To haunt my dreams
