Change a Smile

My old man had to pass down his name,
But with three daughters it had to change.
With a little luck that took awhile,
“It’s a boy, sir,” and it changed his smile.

I grew up strong, and learned to be quick,
Running from the bully who deserved a lick.
Tired of his fist as we lined up single file.
So I gave him his due, and it changed his smile.

Chorus:
To change a smile
All you gotta do.
Is find the power
That’s inside of you.
But beware my friend
With an artist’s brush
When painting lips
Don’t be in a rush.
See a well crafted face
Is a masterpiece.
And like the Mona Lisa
A smile beams peace!

Senior year high school I kissed sweet Marie
The prettiest little thing who was good to me.
She said I was romantic and full of style,
And the sound of her voice always changed my smile.

That summer in love, until all of a sudden
Marie said she was moving, as if there’s a button,
That could turn love off, I was helpless as a child.
Sweet Marie, don’t leave me; don’t change my smile.

Soon after college, work got tough.
Slaving long days, I knew I had enough.
I went to my boss, his nose in a file,
And told him I quit, and changed his smile.

Then one day cupid flew close overhead,
Where he let go an arrow, til’ passion I bled.
He targeted, Susie whose number I dialed,
In love for life, oh yeah! She changed my smile.

Chorus:
