Bloodlines Recited
BLOODLINES
They dug a grave deep that day
‘What colour were Daddy's eyes’
a voice was heard to say as
they buried him deep in the clay
and as a youngster began to pray
Later he wrote upon on his slate
‘enlisted on the rebel's side
With final words..before he died
‘What colour were Daddy's eyes’
This lad studied hard and long
‘What colour were Daddy's eyes’
became a chorus to a song
It was the source of all his fame
His Daddy’s heartfelt refrain
Look into a mirror, mother had said
,both Daddy & Granpa..you will see
Eyes grey-blue,ever -love-filled for thee.
