Beautifully Desperate
The sunshine in your eyes gleams of dreams
of past and tomorrow, blinking away the sorrow
of wounded tears spilled these past few years
You always felt that something was missing from your life
was it the countless nights you wish we had
or is it the way I always made you feel that things weren't as bad
Could have been anything or nothing but something of everything
Wish your eyes didn't look so sad
But you're beautiful and amazing
when you're dreaming and stargazing
beyond the houses in your eyes
to bluer looking skies
your hopes telling the sweetest lies
It's a wonderful life with you standing in this field
yearning and churning for a better yield
I guess it's a beautiful thing that you are the way you are
Without you I never would have made it this far
Beautifully Desperate, how do you cling onto what you have
Never understood how you could have been so brave, but glad that you have
sunrise to sunset, dreaming about the friends that you could have met
Always settling for less than the best, but you seemed to have passed the test
Standing with a fist empty of hope, clenched teeth, at the end of your rope
Beautifully Desperate, Beautifully Desperate
But stronger you're stronger than I am
