Autumn's Breath
Exhausted by bright, long, summer days
Suntanned skin from the sunshine rays
She exhales a cleansing autumn breath
Preparing for her winter’s rest
Emerald greens and rainbows in bloom
Shy away from the pending gloom
Bright oranges and yellows everywhere are found
Before weaving a blanket on the fertile ground
Days are shortened while nights grow long
Autumn winds replace the songbird’s song
Another log upon the fire’s hearth
Preparing to nap before next year’s birth
The coming slumber under the winter snows
Are preceded by the splendid fall time glows
And autumn breathes on us a promise of peace
That until spring returns in our hearts we keep
