Addressing Inequity

History books are filled with men’s escapades Are women’s accomplishments seen as charades? Joan of Arc had visions of saints leading her to save France from Britain’s tyrannical cur. Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat -- defending rights, she’d not succumb to defeat Mary Magdalene had historians confused; she watched Christ die, though apostles refused. Eleanor Roosevelt was the eyes and ears of FDR; she stood behind him through the years. Marie Curie, first female to win the Nobel Prize, joined her husband in efforts to save human lives. Indira Gandhi ruled India two decades -- first woman leader killed when the Sikhs did invade. Princess Di’s royal wedding seemed filled with joy. Her death: an accident or a royal ploy? But it’s Mary Shelley who seems most ignored. Men said Percy wrote “Frankenstein”; Mary they abhorred. Mother Theresa spent years serving the poor. Sainthood come fast, by many she was adored. These women claim their rightful place in history; why others were ignored seems a mystery. Women fought successfully for the right to vote. Countless mothers to children their lives they devote. Eve bit the apple, but all women bear the stain of being weak, frail -- a concept I disdain. *Entry for the “Tell Us of Women” contest

Could be some are serving as precept examples while others are just biting the apple in special interest. Smile. At any rate..I love the poem and the ideal behind it. Bravo... bravo. Agape, Moses

Carolyn my friend these words are unique and this Poem is brilliantly composed lines where one can see and can find the names of those wonderful women of the world history, who have given their best contributions sometimes more poignant than their male counterparts. A superb great write from your lofty pen. The last lines are the most striking words for the cause of women’s strength in general. I have started a new series based on my father's work hope you would relish it. Continue….

This is wonderful Carolyn. Yes, we need to be respected as do all, whatever the gender and each should be applauded for their gifts and talents and for just being them. For we all are fearfully and wonderfully made. I sure loved your write!! : ) Gwendolen ask me, to ask you, to read my poem. Cloudy days doesn't mean there is no sun. But I don't know how to share that with you- I am a bit awkward at technical stuff! lol, love, bren ox

Smile ˜ Whenever I find one holding up the colour of ones skin, the religion of another, etc., etc. ˜ My Spirit senses a bit of something such as a red flag ˜ Do not touch, taste or handle; entangled in these affairs and whom can ultimately know? ˜ Although, when I consider women then, how pure and precious would be the one chosen to carry, GOD IN THE FLESH. * Smile, life is life and love is love and strife is strife and there are no divisions, upon the throne of high ˜ Love Always, John!:) ˜

Fabulous write Carolyn! I love how you wrote of all the famous women in history that got their just due...but said that the ordinary woman is being ignored for all that she does for their children and society! My favorite couplet is definitely, "Eve bit the apple, but all women bear the stain, of being weak, frail -- a concept I disdain." and I believe you are so right. I don't believe that all women fall into that category of being weak and frail...as you sure don't my friend! Great Work!
