A Season of Emptiness

A Season of Emptiness By Elton Camp Seasonal colors of red, blue and green From elaborate decorations are seen Stores and houses ablaze with lights Intended to bring joys and delights That Jesus’ birth wasn’t then, many are aware For this inconvenient truth they may not care After all, it is more about a visit from Santa Claus Who comes bringing a bag filled with gifts and toys The child busily creating a selfish present list Learning to care for others may have missed Scattered families who at that time are meeting Relating their family stories and over eating Heavy drinking may take place at parties too Sometimes with an outcome much to rue Celebrating families may fall deeply into debt A use of scarce resources they come to regret The holiday with its commercialism & hype Brings a happiness of a very superficial type Deliver me from Santa Claus or some elf Like Scrooge, I say “Bah, humbug” myself

Elton, Once again, we find ourselves trapped in the Holiday Season. And, hear I am stopping by to say Hi and to wish you a Merry Christmas once again sincerely from my heart. Loving each moment I found comforting here on the soup. Thank you for any comment or support you have offered now or in the past. Love always & forever ~ PD
