A Ray of Hope
I see yonder
A storm gathering on the horizon
And the wind tightening its belt
to show its might
over the land and the sea.
I could feel it in my bones
The chill that numbs
your body, your mind,
As I lay on the good earth -
Forlorn, spent and lost,
Enduring the elements of Nature.
Over me is the foreboding sky,
And snuggling beside me
to get some warmth
is a stray dog for company.
Caught between a looming storm
And the savage sea,
Like an abandoned ship
I toss and sway
and couldn't steer myself ashore.
Like in a dark tunnel
I wait it to abate
to catch a glimmer of hope,
I wait
for a solitary star to shine
And show me the way!
