A Poem Formula Every Poet Should Read

I was lying in bed Trying to sleep late one night A small spark, Nagging & prodding In the back corner of my mind Slowly forming into more Then a solid idea strikes a cord right then Taking shape & quickly growing With each minute that passes me by Not leaving Until I have it written down Quickly reaching to grab a pen & notepad smoke rising steadily From the sheet Inspiration has struck Giving birth to a poem ~I'm sure every poet has had an experience just like this one :) And ironically that is exactly how that poem came into existence. Thanks for reading

Crystal, This is exactly howw my "Kool Kats" was created. To this day I think was possessed For the poem just seem to write itself and I had not changed a single word. It's one of my favorite poems. Good write hon ... keep on keepin' on! Patty

Inspiration comes to me at the oddest times. I can't just sit down and write poetry. I have to be "hit" with it. You describe that feeling very well, very good..............Karla

Couldn't agree with you more, Crystal. I described the same poetic formula in "Inspiration Taps Softly." Sometimes the ideas come just as we're falling asleep and then it's nearly impossible to rest until we capture the thoughts. Very nice! Best wishes, Carolyn
