A Cruel Escape
She sits in the dark with a knife and her pain,
Death is her wish, his love she'll never gain.
She lifts the knife, the tip touches her wrist,
An escape, an option she can't resist.
She knows it's selfish, she knows it's cruel,
To take her life, she'd be a fool.
But her pain consumes her like a fire,
She fights herself, her situation is dire.
She doesn't believe her heart can mend,
With this torture, she can't contend.
