2012 Christmas Wish
That each child would be more aware,
What Christmas is truly about.
It shouldn't be just bows and ribbons,
On gifts that make them shout.
It shouldn't be a story of Santa,
Decked out in most every strip mall.
That enters down the chimney,
Bringing presents to one and all.
It shouldn't merely be a gathering,
Randomly seated on Christmas morn,
Exchanging gifts and idly chatting,
Thinking little that Jesus was born.
It isn't just about a manger scene,
An event that brought Heavens loss.
While we celebrate Jesus' virgin birth,
It's always been about the cross.
