Janaka Godevithana Poem
The last passenger leaves;
last train’s sound fades,
and breeze begins to grow.
Tiny grass and plants
crawl railings slowly,
and in dimmed sky
shines a bright star.
Sun begins to glow;
first train’s sound echoes
and life takes its flow.

Janaka Godevithana Poem
I walk to the shrine
in a gloomy evening,
keeping short, careful steps
and watch frescos
both old and new.
“Yakkha Damanaya
at Mahiyangana”
The Lord Buddha
endures,
and the mat
with fire on edges
away chases devils.
The Lord’s kind heart
artist has painted
in His eyes, on face -
and The Lotus.
Devils run
in fear…
eyes open,
face wretched.
How can an artist
paint it in one frame?

Janaka Godevithana Poem
It rained whole night
Hurling little drops
Towards my window …………………
Alone she walks
Avoiding bed tea
On sandy lawn
Her feet,
Squeezing wet grass
Spring out water
On marks they leave.
A reflux snuff
Dries wet nose
As water on foot mark
Disappear at once
Oh. Now I remember
Last night I came home,
Then the sky was dark
