Wildfire Season - Repost

Wildfire season - I inhale, and choke On fiery air, try to blink away haze But all the sunlight is full of smoke Drizzling embers fall in a burning dose Like stealthy predators, they come too close Swallowing the land in a scarlet blaze Leaving us homeless and broke (this is a repost from a poem of mine from 2018 - I reposted it because the county in Oregon where I live is currently under a level 2 evacuation, which means 'be ready to leave on a moment's notice' - my niece and her family already evacuated. So this is more resonant to me today then when I first wrote it~)

Very sad what is happening with the fires in America, and so terrifying for the people who have to be on constant watch and leave their everything behind in a heartbeat. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Hugs and blessings, Jenn.

Wishing all the best for you and your recovering hubby, Michelle. For your niece and family as well. We were in a level 2 here a while ago and I know it's hard to relax. An interesting rhyme scheme, is that your invention?

I am sorry to hear that you were in a similar situation, actually today we were downgraded so it looks like we will not need to evacuate ~ as to the rhyme, it was for a contest and the sponsor specified that rhyme pattern, so it wasn't from me :)

An apt description of the crisis wildfires have created in our western states, Michelle. Your imagery is outstanding and I can't imagine what you are going through now. I pray you don't have to evacuate. My best wishes are with you. Excellent poem! Hugs, Carolyn

And you thought Phoenix was hot! Would now be a good time to go jump in the lake? Keep us up-to-date! Aloha! Rico

Thankfully the wildfires seem to be contained so we won't have to evacuate, (yes a big cool lake sounds great!)

Stay safe, Michelle--I see the devastation on TV...saw a family home and farm completely burned out...no place to go for them.

Devastation is the word for it, but it looks like my area will be OK, thank goodness~

I'm sorry that you were so prescient. What's happening out West is just awful, and we all feel so powerless to stop it... Omens of the time, it seems. Stay safe now, Michelle! Courage and Strength, Gershon

Thank you for your good wishes, my friend, we are ready to leave if it comes to that, but it looks like we might not need to - I can't image having to abandon your home to the flames, knowing it will probably not be standing when you return

Stay safe my friend. x
