When an adult whispers Every child’s ear tries to hear But has to pretend it is not listening Hypervigilance takes a front seat When an adult whispers For the children want to hear every single word. When an adult shouts? Who cares? They get that all day long. No one pays attention to that.

So true, the shouting just goes over their heads but whisper and they strain their ears not to miss a thing. Great observation and words Caren.
