Water (For My Friend, and Poet Simone Segal)
Wherever you are I know, crickets swarm for richer spring
For the desert that strangles the wing of the eye
Marks the space where in the palm trees shade lions lie
For every drop upon the window pane is an oasis to the soul
Winds map here the glass face bare, dry without your words
Falling like the sound of rain where the rainbow we behold
Out of Muga, out of Mula, Senia, Arga and Ega, Ebro, Aragon, Segura
One sea cannot the universal cycle make to slake our thirst
For even where the fire is, there is still a speck in the core's purse
From the beginning there was dawn splashed the fruits of life
You seeping through the valley bed, waking up the tundra dead
And when I am melted in the wind my stream will join a bigger sea.
