THEY CALL ME NELSON
No man can keep the spirit contained
He herded sheep when they
called him by name (Rolihlahla)
His teacher gave him a new name now
"they call me Nelson"
His journey was long.
I had plenty company he said
" my book of poetry"-
Plus many souls
met him there in his cell.
I could hear freedom calling me;
When I was already free
And -then -when
I knew freedom no more
I knew I could never become as --a sheep.
No man can keep the spirit contained
I herded sheep when they
called me by my name
My teacher gave me a new name now
"they call me Nelson"
I hear could his name
chanted in the" birds cry"
Free -eeee Nelson Mandela -
How many did we rescue
from the Sea of ignorance,
many, many ,many !
"Hold on to your dignity"
He said, The first and only way
to continue the struggle successfully
Never compromise it never !.
Forward ever..Forward as
'Aluta Continua'
Forward we tread as the poem
"Invictus" dances in
his unbowed head
Forward steady -- ever-ready
"The people united can never be defeated"
Delayed but never defeated.
Mistreated but never defeated.
Justice -Honor
Peaceably was his decree.
Like The story of Jesus.
Like the Mountain and Mohamed.
Like the Dream of Doctor King.
Mr. Mandela's humble soul touched
and reached-- because he'd speak
The language of the heart.;
Even while gagged -and Isolated
we still jumped for him- In a faith leap
And when he was resurrected from
Robbins Island and prison
the energy was unleashed
and we were with him.
Now sing your song-koffin-and chant-
Lamenting freedoms songs;
We shake the shaker-rae with beads
attached ( click clack- click clack)
Drums of joy moves weary feet
Now our feet are happy- We dance-and clap
You tell us give you no praise.Yet praise is due
Which soul can ignore you ?
Who can help but adore you,
and catch a spark from that twinkle in your eyes.
The creator gave him the greatest task
to eradicate- educate -advocate-elevate - -
and with these tools you and
I -- continue to break the
chains that bind our minds.
They call him Nelson.
Though his given Name
Was the one the Gods heard. ( Rolihlahla )
We cried... and we sang a song--
they call him Nelson
Sometimes I recite the
words that kept him strong for 27 years
From one powerful poem
" Invictus'
Out of the night that covers me,Black as the pit
from pole to pole,I thank whatever
gods may be For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.Under
the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms
but the Horror of the shade,And yet the
menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate
How charged with punishments the scroll
I am the master of my fate:I am the captain of my soul~~`
`````````````````
I can her him praying and asking for the courage
to change things/ Who is this man of unfaltering faith
"They Called him Nelson"
