The Wiles of the Crafty Serpent - Genesis 3: 1-5
The Lord God made so many animals
but the serpent was so very clever
asking 'did God really say' casting doubt
making Eve think well did I ever
But Eve was confused so very much
the serpent had her under his control
though she thought any fruit could be eaten
but the serpent thought this is a stroll
Now Satan sought to play his next card
drawing the woman into his spell
suggesting God had said don't eat
don't even touch or ring your bell
Now the serpent 'you will not surely die'
had Eve completely in doubt
satanic words set out to kill
the woman says what's this about
Satan seeks to make Eve God
or to make her think she is
'you will be like God knowing good and evil'
telling lies is the devil's work, how true is this
(Genesis 3:1-5
1. Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2. The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,
3. but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"
4. "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
I am telling this story from the serpent's perspective, considering what was behind all he did and for what was his purpose.)
