away from home
on my own
fifty years ago

I saw your smile
unique style
when we said hello

I was eighteen
new on the scene
you became my bro

so many moons
musical tunes
some fast and some slow

lots of heartbreaks
picking up stakes
when we had to go

calamity
insanity
hard times to undergo

intoxicants
can't pay the rent
always short on dough

you've seen trouble
my soul double
and it's brought you low

here's hoping I'll
see the smile
I saw
fifty years ago

Hi Karen - thanks! I kind of liked the flow of another poem I did, called Odd-Petaled Daisy - so I copied it.
