The Fisherman's Catch and Release

There was once an old man from Altoona Who decided to cast for some tuna 'Twas a mermaid he landed He sighed saying off-handed "How I wish I had caught her much soona!" Oh! How I would love to make her my bride But I'm old, grizzled and gray and, beside 'Twould be my usual luck She'd take up with some young buck, So I will release her at next high tide Entry for Tania Kitchin's "Two Sea Themed Limerick" Contest (27 July 2019) TOOK 3D PLACE IN THE CONTEST

Bob, I recall a poem I wrote where I indicated that I would like to garner a first place win in a contest and be in the winner's circle. Well, my friend, this is the one. Congrats on your win and the as usual great poem that did it for you!

Lol! Robert, This is hilarious. Nice imagery as well. I could just picture in my head the look on his face when he caught a mermaid instead of fish. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Have a great weekend:-) Alexis

G'day Bob ... good thinking Bob. The old man doesn't want to rival a shark for her affections. Lindsay

Yep, the inconsiderate old poop played the sporting "catch and release" routine and returned her to the sea for the sharks to nuzzle up to her! G'Day on ye, Mate, and always honored to have you drop by and read my drivel - BoB
