The Dance

1.

Desiree and Jillian were camped out on Echo Lake
sunshine, fish breaking, what a day

Desiree was using a new daredevil
lure but she couldn’t keep them hooked
she switched to Jillian’s trusty
jitterbug and let fly

2.

Agnes Bloom was a bright
reflection of Desiree’s breezy childhood
during daylight she wandered the lake
in her polka dot boots

south of Signal Island Agnes drew near as a water
lilly swayed in the shallows
calm water swirled as a handsome
trout circled the graceful blossom

1.

Jesus Christ
this trout is pulling me out
feed him more line Desiree
reel the bastard in

twenty minutes later Desiree carried him off

2.

dear god

what a fish
