The Catbird

The dark gray Catbird
Swiftly flew into the garden
Enjoyed his bath for the day
I enjoyed watching him play
Just as swiftly flew away

Were the cats hiding in the shadows
Did his mate call from the meadow
Responsibility or a joyful day
Awaiting him in his world by the bay
Hoping he'll honor me and stay
