The Boatman's Song 16/ Many

The Boatman’s Song 16/Many An idea came in the mind of Urveshi,* to take a test of boatman’s love By giving him an illusion as if, His beloved was standing somewhere there That evening when the boatman was preparing to return And was waiting for his last passengers of the evening The Sun had already set in the west Giving space to Moon to come out well And its bright milky moonlight was spreading On the white sand, like silver everywhere spreading In those magical moments The Boatman saw a lady standing over there On the milky sand, a little away from him A place that was not far away from him For a while he thought his beloved was there And decided to stay there, till she comes to him Many moments passed, but Urveshi* remained there Creating an illusion in the mind of the boatman As if, his beloved the Princess had come to meet him Her beauty was sparking like a studded gem In the background of the white milky shining sand In the most magical light of the love God Moon Her youth resembling like that of his love Because of the distance, between the boat and the sand Where the most beautiful woman of the earth Urveshi* Was standing challenging to test the mind of the boatman He felt that perhaps she was his love Who had come, as per promise she made to him And there she is standing like an angel from heaven Her body glowing in those lovely moments And her face glittering and shining like a Goddess In the back ground of moonlight showering Captivating the beholders to get lost for ever In the beauty of her youth so charming With every rise and fall of her bosom Mighty and kings would have sacrificed their lives, What to say of sacrificing their kingdom For the sake of her sweet piercing smile Humans would fall in a never ending line To behold the dream like her youth so refreshing, The boatman couldn’t believe, that it was his love standing Who was there on the sand dune, in the magical beauty Of enchanting moonlight Ravindra to continue…… Kanpur 18th January 2010 * Urveshi an Apsara (nymph) One of the beloved Apsaras of Indra, as per Hindu Mythology * Tarang (A nymph) A name.
