When eventide comes to enfold the light Cerulean haze slither into the spiraling sky While starlight speckled midnight's dainty face 'Neath the cascade of their aureolin glow The valley descends into slumber deep As lilting waves beguiled the crescent's beam Selene's eyes delight in these astral blooms Where dreams scaffold the myriad of stars Forged in sleep by lunar fire They are leaves swirling in turbulent space Phosphorous blood, dazzling through serpentine veins Cradled along the night by interstellar dust Cosmic heartbeats twinkling in the galaxy's esse Hark! A starry garden--the master's work of art

Thank you, Tom. And, yes, it is for the Word Bank contest. I don't usually label my poems as contest entries because I want them to stand on its own, but I probably should.

Thank you, Susan. Glad the poem resonates with you. This was admittedly not intended to be an ekphrasis at first. I came up with the title, and general theme, after listening to a number of star-themed musical pieces on Youtube. I thought using Van Gogh's masterpiece would help me tether the ideas.
