Spinning Wheel

See the mouse run
on his wheel going nowhere
fast
Notice it doesn’t seem to bother
him at all or
does he not
notice
Every day he gets on the wheel
and runs and runs and
runs
And goes nowhere
	Is he aware of this?
Eat then run then rest
then run some more
Only to repeat it
again
every day
Neither monotony nor boredom
nor lack of progress seems to
bother this little
trooper
Plodding along day after day
after some unforeseen goal
only he
knows
Yet only we know he’ll never
obtain
	Is he aware of this?
What’s his motivation
What’s his
drive
Why does a mule follow a
carrot
Why do lemmings follow to the
death
Why do teens follow peers
Why does he run towards
nothing
There is nowhere to go on the wheel
That path leads nowhere
Am I finally aware of this?
