Slug-Free

Yellow fire hazards blemish the lawn, prickly to bare summer feet. Locusts overtake the heat. Aphids feast and continue to spawn, yet still remain strawberries to eat. 7-8-2021

Yes, strawberries (and watermelon) are my go to fruits in summer, very evocative imagery here too!

We've got them all in our yard. Such a blessing! Thanks for stopping by.

there must be an absence of birds and/or mice/rats in your area as they love to eat strawberries . . ...

We've got lots of birds in our area, but we also have a ginger cat who is both a lover and a fighter.

Ohh the slugs and snails decimate some of my plants but I dont have too many issues with aphids as marigold flowers tend to keep them at bay. I have netted the strawberries so the birds dont peck at them. hugs Jan xx

Slugs and snails are a big problem for us, but surprisingly they seem to like our horseradish leaves more than the strawberries.

A true picture of the reality of the season filled with bright summer images, Juliet! For all of the pests, we still have sweet strawberries! A friend used to call a herd of snails escargot on the hoof! I buy ladybugs to take care of the aphids. Many years they just show up for their aphid feast!

We've got ladybugs too, but they're probably outnumbered. Slugs and snails are prolific in our yard, but I think the coffee grounds helped (as well as the dry weather.)
