Second Chance Program

What do YOU call a second chance
a chance to see the sun
a chance to breathe fresh air
a chance to live on the outside with no room to share
a chance to not have to look over my shoulder
as I walk around
a chance to get it together
place my feet on solid ground
a chance to work for your government
without reminding me of the wrong Ive done
a chance to vote in the elections
for a politician whose already won
what do YOU call a second chance
a chance to get my life back that I have lost
why am I still out here in jail
while in jail I paid the cost
Yes I made a costly choice
and I paid with time
Yet Im still suffering
on the outside
about to lose my mind
Im out now but its like im still in
still being penalized for the crime my sin
why wont you let me make it
dont want to have to take it
then you say repeat offender
I say you are the hender
not blaming you for what I did
just wanna be a father to my kid
if you do something wrong you must suffer the consequences
yet im constantly reminded of these offenses
I want to change but you want me to stay the same
I wont let you win and thats my word in Jesus name
