Saturn Dance and Basaltic Magma

Listen to poem:
Written: February 22, 2025, for contest Sponsored by: Sara Jama **************** Skating upon Saturn rings, we dance in the empyrean, while orbiting moonlets traverse ancient trails of ice and stone. This is a cosmic ballet, asymptotically spiraling toward an unseen end. Lightning scars Enceladus, torn by geysers shooting skyward, as gravity grip tightens, drawing the rings into a molten embrace. Comet tails weave through methane clouds, soot hardening into graphite diamonds. A celestial tapestry unfolds marked by churning seawater and tectonic upheaval. Planetesimals gather momentum, accreting into juvenile worlds. Retrograde orbits twist in the inferno of solar proximity. Geological pulses echo in basaltic magma rising raw, while subducted layers cool into igneous strength beneath volcanic skies. Buoyant forces lift orogenic belts toward the stars. Skating upon Saturn rings, a voyage into the cerulean sky, a celestial odyssey through frozen arcs of time, where 292 million years are absorbed in the molten core of adventure. A wandering moonlet dances on this cosmic stage. In supernova chaos, protostar dreams birthed our path. as nebulae whisper, cradling us in a mosaic of chondrules. Particles are accrete moments like planetesimals, spinning with angular momentum. Solar proximity pulls us closer to the churning seawater mantle, while tectonic tales of juvenile basaltic magma rise and fall beneath our feet. Retrograde rhythms metamorphose beneath subducted layers. as cooling igneous histories forged in plutonic depths await discovery. Extrusive volcanic buoyancy lifts orogenic belts to new heights, and metasomatic transformations paint epigenetic canvases. Silicification processes churn chaotic thoughts as we glide, while uralitization echoes through chloridized memories, periodized remnants of Fulvio’s force. Aeolian winds lithify biogenically precipitated dreams into stratified sedimentary tapestries. Wedge and knead tessellating mudrocks into hummock-sculpted flacks of history. Photons radiate through the cerulean sky uveal layer; stroma iridesce in unison, the vestige of a sphincter remains an embryonic echo of Titan zenith, Tractatus Sinnos. Unspinning Symplegades plunge, as Neptune mushroom clouds dwell in the Aegean crescendo cliffs and the hadal depths. Silver billows from a noctilucent pond, with the Rumeli lighthouse standing as Eros agape, while Hymenaeus embrace Gaea, drowning in pathos. Anteros ignites, illuminating sinuous shadows.

Hi SP, I remember when I showed a student Saturn through a small telescope...he actually thought it was a hoax and not really there. Anyway, you've created quite a view of goings on and rumblings. A pleasure to read and contemplate. I'm in awe how you come up with each different image. Smiles!!

Dear sotto, this is so creative and eloquent, how you’ve woven this brilliant poem for the prompt! I love the celestial nature of your word weaving and the clever word choices as well as the seamless alliterations! Especially the opening is truly captivating and drew me right in! I love also how you’ve used such scientific terminology and metaphors to create this! “ as Neptune mushroom clouds dwell in the Aegean crescendo cliffs and the hadal depths. Silver billows from a noctilucent pond” you definitely have a way with words! Pleasure reading this gem! Best wishes for the contest. Sending you light always
