No one tells you
No one tells you how to smile when your throat closes with every breath behind that smile.
No one tells you how to move forward when the chain around your neck drags you back.
No one tells you how to be positive when your own mind digs into you with horns and a tail.
No one tells you how to see how far you’ve come when oceans rise to drown your soul.
No one tells you how it gets easier when the concrete pins you still.
No one tells you how to feel free when your body bruises under bar after bar pressing down.
No one tells you how to face yourself when the mirror stretches your reflection wide.
No one tells you that support is near when your story has always been survival alone.
No one tells you how to listen when your ears are clogged with words.
No one tells you how to speak truth when darkness erases your light.
No one tells you how comfort slips away with each spin of the wheel.
No one tells you where you belong when every door is closed.
No one tells you how to keep walking when the staircase spirals without end.
No one tells you how to feel full when pain empties you out.
No one tells you how to live when your pulse slows to silence.
No one tells you how happy endings rise when the sun goes down.
No one tells you you’re alone when the music box keeps playing.
No one tells you that the “no one”… is you.
A battlefield.
A war.
Yourself against yourself.
