Deborah, I like the mellowing part. Have you noticed that the older one is, the better able one is to be oneself. I suppose it comes with accepting oneself and seeing the beauty within at every stage of life. Valuing the soul more than posessions. What do you think? (Longevity: Dad is 83 retired sportswriter He began his current job at age80 = Publix. Mom is 80 and enjoys doing whatsoever she wants to do. Grandmothers: Mary died at age98. Dane died at age99. Plenty of time to mellow!)

Great tribute, Deborah! I wrote a poem in honor of turning 50 and would have loved to have some one write one for me like you did. I don't know what age Carol is, but I love the phrase, well earned respite light. Thanks for your comment and suggestion on my Shaped by the River poem. I will think about how I have been shaped by my tears and see what inspiration comes.
