Author's Notes: "Medusa's Love" is a Quatrain theme piece that I've actually wanted to write for a long time. With my interest in ancient history and cultural mythology, among several other academic interests I have, this particular topic seemed perfect since we're now into October with Halloween (All Hallows' Eve) just around the corner. I hope you enjoy this Halloween poem. And don't dream about Medusa as we get closer to Halloween Eve for she just might appear on your doorstep to "trick" and to "entice" YOU to look into her demonic eyes, making YOU her stone-cold treat!! Happy Halloween!! (Gary Bateman - October 1, 2015) (Unrhymed Quatrain)

Medusa’s Love Medusa is a hideous and vile creature of Grecian yore. Medusa, once a high priestess in the Temple of Athena, Suffered Athena’s unforgiving wrath for violating her Sacred temple as she and Lord Poseidon made love there. Medusa’s Love entices all of her naive human victims, Up to that special mesmerizing moment of her icy shock, As they end up unwittingly gazing into her evil, hellish Eyes and their bodies harden and turn to stone forever. You can never trust those Gods who relish in making The plight of mortal man more challenging on Earth. Once a perfect paragon of radiant female pulchritude, Athena transformed Medusa into this mythic monster. As if this life isn’t frightening enough, with the advent Of Halloween Eve and the cold, dark nights preceding it; Medusa’s restless spirit as this grotesque Gorgon can be Conjured from her lair at the entrance to the Underworld. From the hissing and viperous serpents adorning her head, To the ever-present shaking death rattle of her reptilian tail; Medusa’s sneering and unholy visage paralyzes her victims As her fiery and demonic eyes bring them a stone-cold death! I share your interest in history and mythology. Recently turned out a few myself. Medusa was one of the first great mythical monsters I read about as a child. I wrote a Medusa poem titled , Medusa Or Sexy Siren, Memory Debates, back on Aug 11th 2015. A modern version. Your poem does so do it the mythology justice! Super 7 my friend...Adding this one to my fav list. Thanks.

I checked your "Medusa or Sexy Siren" poem out Robert. (I actually already commented on this wonderful poem of yours back in August. I saw my comment and noted it was a "Seven" + FAV in my book.) I read it again. Quite excellent always for sure!! Best Wishes, Gary

Thanks Robert for your wonderful comments here and the Super 7 + FAV!! I'm very pleased that you liked this write on Medusa. (I will check out your version of Medusa as you mention above. A quite tragic mythological character, but we all must pity here unsuspecting victims.) Cheers and Best, Gary

Hello Dear D!! "Clash of the Titans" from the early 80's with Sir Laurence Oliver and the cast of Shakespearean actors was exactly what I was thinking off. Ray Harryhausen's special effects with Medusa and the fight scene with Perseus (Harry Hamlin) at the entrance of the Underworld was most excellent!! Thanks for the 7 + FAV. (I'm under the weather right now with the Flu here in German, and will be off-line for a few days Dear One. Are you going to do any dark themes during Halloween?? Cheers and Best, G!

Thanks Liam Mate!! I am hopeful that Medusa did not attempt to turn you into stone when she came alive in your mind!! Perish that thought!! Glad you enjoyed this piece. I enjoyed engaging on this theme. Much has already been written about Medusa and her immortal Gorgon sisters. Cheers and Best, Gary

- Medusa the woman who resembled a monster with fangs and snake hair she was not beautiful, but had special abilities and power - No one dares to love her ..... "here and fiery demonic eyes bring themselve a stone cold death" - ... miserable love - A wonderful write about Medusa, dear Gary - Now that you have described her restless spirit, I will lock my door at Halloween :) - (tr + f.) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Hello Dear Anne-Lise!! Thanks for the TR + F!! All you say for sure is quite correct about Medusa. Before she defiled Athena's Temple with Poseidon, her beauty was legendary and even rivaled that of Athena. But we know the rest. Athena had the upper hand being a Goddess, etc. It's probably advisable to lock your door on Halloween (HA! HA!). Cheers and Best, Gary
