It's Bittersweet

I have determined to age with grace To show off each wrinkle on my face. I now accept there is more of me Much more than there was at twenty three. There’s a sprinkling of the salt in my hair That mixes well with the pepper there. The spring of my life has given way To vibrant colors that will turn grey. I know that Summer must bow to Fall And then Fall will answer Winter’s call Every age has beauty I've been told There’s bitter sweet pain in growing old.

You are a very thoughtful, dreamy person with a lot of wisdom and inspiration to offer the world. Your poems are actually quite empowering to me, so thank you for sharing! It's been really nice exploring your work, your mind... The 6th and 7th line are so delightful and playful... all in all, this poem speaks of aging, yet almost has a childlike personality at the same time. Very cool! Love this little verse! Faved! Always, Laura

Fantastic piece here - so few words, but it speaks volumes. The optimism in your voice here is relieving, though there is a touch of sadness that I feel when I got to the lines "The spring of my life has given way To vibrant colors that will turn grey." Nevertheless the lines are delightful, and add to that bittersweet feel. I also love the personification between the seasons...so beautiful "I know that Summer must bow to Fall And then Fall will answer Winter’s call".. brilliant...
