"Ignition"
Magic sits with you
you wait and you listen
for messages from the other side
this is true
this addiction impressive
you write her your gift
you whisper words as you write,
she sees you, she listens
very close
always present
you can't see her, she's missing
you write him his riff
some ephemeral missive
he is in accord, in his truth, he is implicit
a ghost
sits with you
empathically diligent
you look at life
and wonder where it is
wiping away the tears
you cry
then you grieve
she sighs
phantom sighs
he looks over his shoulder
there is no one there
yet he smiles
passion fire reigns
in your hands
you hold it in close
to move all the wild horses
you whisper ever nearer
towards you
sentences,
corrals to be open
in all your fierce dreams,
you hold onto believe
wild creatures
can never be tamed
they must
of their own free will
come to you
they shall advance;
Love’s gift
always commands
picture this vision
the world lives inside you
asleep not yet risen
within you the dormant key
waits for its driver
it anxiously turns
like a fretting
child
in its sleep
woken
ignition
to drive off the plateau
no longer asleep
without fear of Love
into the
Deep

“This is what I believe:
That I am I.
That my soul is a dark forest.
That my known self
will never be more
than a little clearing in the forest.
That gods, strange gods,
come forth from the forest
into the clearing of my known self,
and then go back.
That I must have the courage
to let them come and go.
That I will never let mankind
put anything over me,
but that I will try always
to recognize and submit
to the gods in me
and the gods
in other men and women.
There is my creed.”
