Evil Tree

Amid the dark and gloomy glen you tower where you've always been a spectral shape, foreboding, fierce with witchy wands to prod and pierce Evil, evil locust tree how you haunt and worry me Waving pointy arms around casting scary shadows down poker-fingers stoke my fear striking poses quite austere Evil, evil locust tree raining down your thorn debris If a scratch, skin barely breaking starts my poor weak flesh to aching it will hurt for days and days from your vicious, vengeful ways Evil, evil locust tree please have mercy- hear my plea Wicked, wearing crown of thorns ripping, shredding, blood adorned cruelly cutting to the bone never leaving me alone Evil, evil locust tree won't you ever let me be?

I have neighbors who have at least 8 of these in their yard; they constantly drop seed into my fence row and I'm constantly wrestling with them to get them out. Locust trees seem more fertile than rabbits. They are also of the Mimosa family, of which I'm allergic. They are, "evil evil Locust trees". Well done.

Thank you! I feel your pain... they are awful (and even worse when you're allergic, too)!!

Rhona, I enjoyed reading this well descriptive and well written poem that arouses strong emotions because of its beauty. Google the tree and it has 2 inch long thorns Wow.... and very poisons .. I learned something tonight.

Methinks this is a metaphor for something more than a tree. A very dramatic verse with awesome meter, my friend!

On second thought, I should've kept my mouth shut, and pretended to be all brilliant: "Oh yes, I intended that deeper meaning!" (like a person who accidentally makes a fantastic-looking shot playing pool, and just coolly leans back and smiles)... ;D Hahahahahaa!

Thank you! ;) No, I was actually writing about a locust tree that scared the crap out of me as a child! ;D I'd never seen a tree with thorns that huge before- and I really felt that it was evil, somehow. This poem would make an awesome metaphor for a very toxic person or relationship, though!!
