Chasing Rainbows
Broken hearts need time to heal,
from an emotional fall.
For fragmented feelings, feel
like you've no feelings at all.
Pining for happier times,
you expose your fragile heart.
And as anxieties climb,
depression tears you apart.
Fantasies fan passion's flame,
fueled by oaths of the past.
Yet lovers reap only shame;
when forever vows don't last.
Alcohol and magic pills
take you to the edge of death.
And indulging taboo thrills;
add danger to every breath.
You pay an outrageous toll
somewhere between fight or flight.
And dreams devastate your soul;
chasing rainbows in the night.
