Buffy's Dilemma

(Forgive the Infected or Slay Them?) Well, it's clear! Both with Angel and Spike, love prevails, And it makes a good yarn too! Does Buffy though sin In seducing these Vampires (their weakness as men)? Most would simply say, "No, it's the numbers that count! Does the world not get respite from demons that plague," (Though new evil's born daily in spite of the Hague)! Are there bodies uncounted plot never unveils? It's a coin toss! She loves both in spite of the chill That a Vamp brings the living when they suck their fill! Is forgiveness a weakness when she lets them mount Her like humans before, where's the lock on her door? Still, my empathy pours out to Buffy (and more)! It is tempting to think of myself as all heart But I recognize evil reflected from lake, Still, the world longs for Justice, and that's no mistake! But her family must feel the path that she's on And the good she can do, ah, how long does that last? But the slayer's a magnet that will not get passed Up by darkness that looks on the world as its art. For the absence of light seen as always worth fight To the death! Notch on devil's black belt, if you might Kill a Slayer and somehow survive, carrion Though you'll be, till beheaded or staked, dust or fry! There's no brave soul to kill you, unlikely you'll die! May the sunshine fry pundits of bloodsucking lies And the Buffy solution serve our politics With the vampires around us impaled by sharp sticks (New alliances flavored by women and blacks)! And if Buffy you'd succor in times of distress Then kill demons YOU harbor, just those YOU confess, And the slayer will feel it, gain strength, hear their sighs! And though evil's ongoing and man's from the start More you empty your garbage the bigger your part, Those who clean out own nest can augment what she lacks! It's your struggle not winning that counts in the end, And it heartens the Slayer to know you're her friend! Brian Johnston 15th of September 2018 Poemhunter.com and PoetrySoup.com
